This year we are Putting Kids 1st! UNMC’s Monroe-Meyer Institute will be the focus for the 2021-2022 State Charity.
With approximately 230,000 people with disabilities in the state of Nebraska, the need for specialized programs and support services to improve their quality of life is vital. MMI provides extraordinary family-centered services for persons with disabilities and complex health care needs across their lifespan.
The greatest need at this time is transportation and mobility funding. MMI’s robust list of recreational therapy programs offer experiences to children with disabilities. Participation for some, however, is not possible without an accessible van to transport them to MMI. The purchase of a new van will ensure that all who wish to participate can attend safely. Currently the vans they have are nearing 30 years old with high mileage.
Thank you for supporting SWP Lynn Hedell and SMP Sue Marshall this year in their efforts to Putting Kids 1st! We will continue to provide you with more information on the great things MMI are doing throughout the year!
